November – Finishing the Quilt Top

Licensed to Quilt – Permit(ssion) to Test 2019 Block of the Month for The Greenville Modern Quilt Guild.@travlis @GreenvilleMQG #licensedtoquilt

Here we are. Congratulations! Thanks to everyone who has participated in this block of the month. Your participation means the world to me. Some of us made a few blocks, one person completed an entire quilt out of a single block, and some just cheered us on as we tackled new techniques and got through all 10 blocks.

Along the way, I explored alternate layouts with a single block or combinations of a few of the blocks. On our journey I have encouraged you to play, to open your mind, and to give yourself permission to Test.

I’ve explored so many new design ideas. I’ve practiced techniques to sew more perfect curves, figuring out when to paper piece or just wing it and sew.

Eleven months later, we are so close to having a new completed quilt top.

Option 1

This month the background gave me time to learn about triangles and how to cut them on the straight of grain so that you don’t end up with biased edges along the outside of your quilt. I hope to get quilt sandwich under needle and begin the quilting soon!

Option 2.

Here are two possible layouts for your quilt – Option 1 or Option 2.

Don’t forget to tag me @travlis @GreenvilleMQG #licensedtoquilt  so I can follow along with your creative journey.
